I'd appreciate any tips/advice on making the lead sound at 0:57 in reason/massive.

I am aware a similar question has been asked but it's either not been answered or the answer resulted in a sound nowhere near what i needed.
I have presviously posted in the 'how to make this sound' thread with no luck

You two start with this patch and make something original with it. Seriously though this patch took 2 minutes included firing up Reaper...
For next time, whenever you hear high layers on bass sounds you go "OH SHIT FORMANT TIME" when using Massive :P

Have fun.

Keep in mind that you'll have to do some more things to the patch to get it to sound like the song OP posted. But I think that's obvious haha :)

Huge thanks for the patch, it's definatley a starting point :Q:
I've messed around with the patch and got some interesting results but i am still missing something :/
Is there a certain technique to achieve that type of sound or is it just basically a layered formant?

I have a theory, havent tried it yet though. Has to do with the scream filter, I think it's essential for the sound.

Well some more reverb on the high end should be in order, and there is a couple of glitch ups/extra distorted moments in the song you posted that might require some additional processing/modulating. Also pitch glides will make it sound awesome. You could also put an envelope on the vibrato LFO I applied to have it slowly kick in over time over something. Just make it move a bit more, add some distortion perhaps, experiment with it. Also experiment with the rate of the LFO that's on, that will make a huge difference.
