So basically I'm looking for someone who can record their guitar being played so I can make some more progress on this track (a preview of it included), it's a metalcore track and I kinda need someone who can play the guitar to play a riff or whatever it's called over it.
If you can help reply to this with contact details for MSN/AIM/Skype.
Cheers.

EDIT: UPDATED TRACK.

I can play but I refuse to lay anything down unless it's either A. recorded through a peavey 5150 or B. reaped through a peavey 5150

I don't think my guitars neck will support that type of tuning!
Good luck on your hunt!

i'd love to take a crack at it.. but i have none of the aforementioned messaging utilities.
Could we PM ? you want one cycle of a riff over those drums, or a performance of the track from start to finish? layers, etc?
I would record it with an SM57 on my amp, ART tube preamp .. probably the line6 distortion
I could do drop G on the 7 string, but its muddy as fuck why G?

Anyway you think that suits this track, just play it however. I don't know much about guitars but I know a powerful riff would suit it

I honestly want to help but my guitar playing is usually more on the melodic side. I have a lot of trouble sounding "hard". My style of guitar playing is similar to what you would hear in a "Lamb of God" song. Obviously it is not as complex, but it is similar. If you are interested in that kind of stuff let me know!

the drums need better mixing before i could do anything. the first "breakdown?" sounds more like a tribal african beat :/

I've decided to change the entire track, and this is the almost finished product, I need to extend it, mix it etc.

Yeah sure. I'll use this for the obvious parts.
And you'll get credits, I never let anyone on my tracks without me giving them credit.

I'm down to lay some guitar on it. i haven't plugged my guitar into my new computer yet(since I've been producing electronic music).
I could make some shit up. Did you want to give me the wav.? I'll try and throw it into ableton and see what I can do.
What do you guys put for guitar audio? any compressors, effects, eqing?

Fruity Loops drum sounds? Looks like you need some tips mixing "live" drums and how should they sound. Hit me up with a pm and I can give you a few tips.

Nah the compressors, effects, eqing question was for myself, what do I put on my guitar audio recording? I'm clueless of mixing for rock music.
But if you want to send it to me I'll put something on it in the next couple hours

I literally have no idea. Today's my first day of even touching metalcore.
I'm looking for some heavy stuff, like Asking Alexandria or Falling in Reverse (Raised by the Wolves-esque).

A brutal gruesome eye stabbing base guitar is created by layering, just like a nice reese. Get some nice thick strings and drop your tuning. Apply tons and tons and tons and tons and more tons of drive, scoop out the mids, cut around 150~200hz and around 5khz. Heavy compression and a noise gate. Play the base guitar line, pan this one to the left, about 63%. Record yourself again playing the same line with the same amp settings, pan this one the right about 63%. Now go to your amp, mess around with your distortion so you get more treble (high end) and a little bit more of distortion, almost (keyword here is ALMOST) muddy. Play the whole line again, pan 100% to the left, play the whole line again, pan 100% to the right. Create a room reverb send, only a small amount of reverb, then compress to put everything in the same room. Move to the bass, you want a nice spiky tone with lots of high end. Play the part recording the in line signal, to this signal apply a heavy compression and EQ out the low end mud. Open a bit of space for the kick drum click. Copy that part, cut a bit of the low end and apply an amp with a mic simulator (guitar rig). Apply a heavy fuzz or overdrive to this track, balance it with the clean signal, send both to the guitar's room.
The key is to layer, always layer.
also quit listening to bro / scene / pussy metal. Get some Cattle Decapitation, Dying Fetus, Meshuggah, Black Dahlia Murder or Mastodon records for heavy stuff, not teenager girls screaming into mics.
