timestretching vocals

Post by Hircine » Thu Mar 29, 2012 3:13 am

time stretching a vocal track that is at 87 bpm to 130bpm would ruin it? Should I just stretch it to 65bpm?

Best to chop it up, if it's possible!

^ That. If you stretch so much it will get the stretching "distortion" (unless that's what you're after). But try it :) Trying is learning.

Yeah, definitely try it. If the a capella is a high quality one, it probably can withstand a bit of stretching. If not, I suggest changing the tempo of your piece. Personally, just for kicks I change the tempo of my music every time I make a new song, just so I dont get stuck with the same drumloops.

Actually, in lots of modern underground music, downtempo is the new thing. 70-90 is a real nice sweet spot, gives the track a lot of slow head-boppyness. So just experiment, try both timestretching and tempo changing.

acapellas were wavs, stretched around 40% and chopped some bits like societyloser recommended, sounded great, just need a re-eqing to bring more low end.
