there's been lots of talk trying to get dubway to setup a paypal account, or sell some advertising space to help pay for the bill, but it never seems like he wants it.
he's too good for our money.

well i think Rooted, Boomkat, Redeye, etc. would be willing to pay a little bit to have their sites promoted here.
even though i think everyone already knows the major online shops anyways.
and we do the work for them sometimes lol (i.e. the "out now" thread)

The space at the top of the forums could be used for advertisement.
A fixed, monthly rate for banners...
Everyone would benefit from it. Dubway, since he would make a bit of money... and the labels and promoters, since their banner would get, literally, thousands of views.
Think about it.

those interested in advertising on dubstepforum should contact dubway directly at the "New to the forum...." link above.
we're in the process of finding a way to offset costs by running some sort of advertising. with traffic escalating every single month here, it's becoming very expensive, and our goal is to keep this place as non-corporate as possible. obviously, dubway is the real champion, because he's funded this site ENTIRELY on his own for nearly three years now.

Luckily .JPGs in signatures aren't stored on the forum's server and do not affect the operating costs.

yeah we're looking into things. and from people i've been speaking to there are interested parties looking to advertise on the forum. it's up to dubway but i'd like to keep it on target and relatively unintrusive.
but we'll see.

One way of doing it is like The DVD Forums. They have a little bit of advertising, but the companies that do it (usually DVD retailers) have affliate links, where if you buy through those links you get a special discount. Each advertiser also has their own setforum set up, where customers can communicate with the shop staff quickly. The reason it works well is that a) members get cheaper DVDs and b) any problem/queries with their orders they can post in the forum for immediate attention, instead of having to email the retailer; c) the retailer gets a lot of repeat custom/loyal customers and d) the forums get money from the retailers.

Because viewing a thread with 10 humongous sigs per page is not only very annoying, it also drags the overall forum performance down. This is especially true when you have upwards of 10k members.
