Propellerhead Figure now in the app store

First impressions: Very strange interface yet surprisingly intuitive. Made a dubstep beat in about 3 minutes. It is very basic compared to something like Nano studio or Rhythm but I think that can be a plus, but really have only played with it for maybe 5 minutes so still need to get deeper into it. No complaints other than no save or export function I can see. Overall I like it. For $.99 you cant go wrong.

Fair enough, I was also expecting more. Not being able to extend the loop beyond 4 bars is pretty lame. But the tweak section is pretty neat. Controlling lfo to cutoff with you finger is pretty fun. The presets are not all that bad either. Definitely not a studio in your pocket, but a cool way to get a small loop going in less than a minute. Kind of a trade off with a simple interface with no need to zoom or scroll around but limiting in terms of making an actual song or designing sounds. I feel like it has good potential, lets just hope updates come faster than updates for Reason.

Was kind of psyched about this, disappointed to hear your reviews.

Downloaded this to check it out... wicked. It certainly is limiting, but it's 99 cents. As far as I am concerned, it's an easy way to 'jot' down a musical idea on the fly to bring back to the studio.
Seriously, though, 4 bars just doesn't cut it. Instinctively I want to make at least 8 bar patterns. They better have plans to extend this cause that would make it awesome.
Interface is great
lots of lil' fun options
props for throwing in the mixing option to edit the levels of your individual tracks... it's simple, but essential
pretty good app for only a buck

I'm waiting for FL Studio Mobile to come out for the Android. So far only for MAC products (iPad, iPhone, IPod). They said their working on the Android version, but its taking some time do to the abundance of different screen sizes and resolutions in the Android world.

NanoStudio > Fl Studio Mobile
Fl Studio Mobile is a rebarnd of another mobile DAW it is disappointing form what i read.
I am slightly sad to hear these reviews about Figure, it looked pretty cool but nanostudio has set the bar very high for me so ill probably skip it until they extend/expand it some.

I stand corrected it's actually a 2 bar loop. After a few days on this thing I really love it now. You can do quite a bit despite it's limitations and the sound quality is just awesome if you got headphones on or a decent system in the car. A lot of the drum pads have two sounds on the left or right sides of the pads. My favorite thing is the tweak section, each sound has it's own unique x/y pad with up to three parameters that can be automated and the automations can be recorded. Some of the tweak parameters are pretty funny too, like for the cowbell you have fever and perscription on the x and y axises.

I also enjoy how the TR-BOB is obviously an 808 kit
The side-compression in the mixing tab is so awesome too. I don't ever make house style music really and I threw down a 110 BPM loop and cranked up the side-chain and started raving in my bedroom.

Ya these iOS apps are getting pretty dope!
I just got Figure yesterday and am already sorta bored w/ it. It's ok i guess but it's way too limiting. Can't really use it for ideas because nothing is original. You can only use the sounds provided. I'm not bitching. I wasn't expecting it to be a DAW in my pocket. But for .99, I'll keep it on my iPhone.
I like iMaschine. It too is limiting but you can create custom sounds and record into it. Still only 4 bars but it's real good for laying down a quick idea when inspiration hits while I'm doing 90 down the parkway.(lol jk.)
It's got 2 16 pad grids that u can put any sound on and play, a recorder to record sound into it and you can even edit the wave!!! Plus a mixer. I think NI did pretty good.
My #1 Favorite iOs music app by far is Animoog!! I wish they make this a VST synth!!! It's seriously fucking amazing!!

Audiobus support added.
Figure + Loopy = Instant Songwriter in a box (sort of.)

I've got it and messed about with it but could never really get into it. Much prefer imachine for fucking around with things on the go.

I love figure. Does almost nothing - and little that's really useful - but does it so well. Making totally weird 130 grime with it. Render out the wavs and edit in logic or whatever and you're away!
