So...I created a database full of free/LEGAL downloads.

Post by mrdii » Sat Apr 14, 2012 7:54 am

As the title says.
http://legaldubstep.com/
I made this a few weeks ago. It's basically the result of hours of searches, via google, via the forum and many other resources. I copied every link and put them into alphabetical order. There's direct zip. files, there's soundcloud links, there's mediafire, there's bandcamp and whatever else you can think of. There's probably about 5000+ free tunes on there, from 2 track EP's to 30 song albums.

As you can see, it's not the prettiest of sites and I plan to update it, but yeah - there's tonnes of stuff on there, from big guys like Skream, Rusko and Skrillex to forum producers.

Enjoy :)

Nice!

Would it be ok to submit links to more stuff? I'm pretty sure I've seen some Stenchman stuff that's been posted on here that would be good to add. :)

Really nice initiative!! I was thinking of doing something a like actually, but as you've already done it how do we submit links for you to monitor and put on? That would be a nice addition! :)

Yeah the site is still in process, feel free to PM new/missed releases or email legaldubstep@gmail.com

I hope you like it. As I say, I'll try making it a bit more compatible in the coming weeks :)

Big ups for doing this, it's something I've been thinking about doing for a while. Two bits of constructive criticism though:
-There's a lot of blank space in the design which makes it take forever to scroll through stuff.
-You might want to consider rehosting stuff on your own mediafire/whatever account (unless the artist specifically says not to) to avoid having to deal with dead or link links as they pop up. http://www.blimeyworld.net/PromoSpot/ does this perfectly for free grime releases.

Yeah I wish my site looked like Promospot, I guess it will when I have enough free time. I don't think I'll host it all myself, too much hassle. The thing is, there's so many mirrors and stuff these days - the stuff is usually covered.

I am still learning website building, so will keep improving.

Sick! You might want to make sure it doesn't get filled with spam though

?!

I can honestly assure you there's no viruses on there. I wouldn't know how to put one on a website, hell - I can barely put links up as it is!

I don't know where that's coming from.

Niiiice this site is cool! Thanks buddy! :)

Could you maybe make the alphabetic letters much bigger? It's a bit hard to see if you scroll down really fast and searching for a letter.
