Hey, new to making dubstep. I am looking to upgrade from free online software to something like Fruity Loops 10. Is this the best package for a beginner? I don't really want to spend a lot of money. This being £99 I thought I'd go for it.

Yeah yeah, absolutely. Best deal in the production world.

yeah its good for starting out in but I would advise you to move on to a "better" daw after you learn the basics of production. Yeah i realize that pretty much all DAW's are the same but FL studio isn't the best in my opinion for layering vsts and bussing like you can do it logic and ableton.

Don't believe that ^ that is someone who doesn't know how to use the fl mixer.

I'm proficient with fl 10. Downfalls are limited number of effects and not as good of a layering system. You should really not just say stuff that you have no idea about.

There's no real limit to the number of effects you can use in FL if you know how to route with your mixer... It's not the DAW, OP, its the user... If you're serious about producing, then yes, buy FL... if you're not so sure, then get Reaper.

which is more work therefore slower workflow................ I'm saying its easier in ableton not that it's impossible in FL studio :corntard:

Yes well ableton has a strange hollow looking interface to me, which makes things difficult to read or notice, which leads to a slower workflow... So the moral of the story is get good at whatever DAW you use, they're all pretty much the same shit anyhow.... just be wary of the fact that you can't use any VST in reason, if that's the one you are thinking of settling with.

Totally agreed. It is apparent you don't know fl that well, which is fine, but if you tell someone that is just getting started that fl can't do something, that it can, in fact, do easily, and maybe even do better than others, there is a problem there in that you are misleading someone away from something that can be very helpful and enjoyable in their pursuit of music, and that is not cool in my book.

if you could quote where i said FL studio couldn't do something that'd be great. I said there are limited number of effects(per mix track and you have to route more tracks to get more effects = slower workflow) I also said its not as easy to work with layering as it is in live, still nothing about how FL can't do anything. And finally, how is it apparent to you that i don't know FL very well because I do.

You can have like 100+ effects in a chain on FL10, in one mixer channel. Ever heard of patcher? >.>

If you knew it well, you would know how easy it is to buss and layer in fl. No offense to you, I'm just going to interject when I hear untruths directed at flstudio. If we'd like to continue this dialog, let's do it in pm, and not fuckup op's thread w/ a bunch of bullshit.

I wasn't bashing FL studio I'm just saying that I like the racks better in ableton :corntard: . He asked which package is the best so i said start out with fl and move to ableton which directly relates to the thread. and no I'm not interested in PMing because this is all just opinions and there's no way it would go anywhere.

don't understand why you'd recommend switching when it'd be better to stick to a DAW and try to master it ;p

@OP Try out the demo and see if it clicks with you before you drop your cash on it, but FL is fully capable, easy, and comes with lifetime free upgrades

Does anyone use the Patcher? I've never bothered, is it at all useful?

hehe, nope, haven't used it. I've installed the 10.5 demo (though have not launched it) and haven't used 60% of the new additions to 10.

Honestly I think it is capable of psychotic things, and if you were of that disposition, I think you'd find it very useful.
