Its probably the soundcloud compression, its ruined some of my tunes before as it streams in 128.

Saying that, have you used a compressor on the master? Sometimes its best not to compress a lot if its going to be on soundcloud, the dynamics cover up the mp3 artifacts.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, there is no "soundcloud compression" going on. Either you have a good mix, or a shit mix. that's it! most of my tunes are mastered and they don't sound distorted or "soundcloud compressed". Get to know your mixdowns and take the criticism with a grain of salt. There's tons of hate out there, get over it. Just take the positive critique's and feedback and go back to the mix and perfect it. that is why you posted here, no? Calling people out for hating and then getting mad at them, only makes you look as ignorant as they do.

all that a side, this is a terrible song (the original) and a bad mixdown. It's been done to death! it's good that you're getting familiar with others tunes, but try and do something no one else has done before. I'm not saying that I break any new grounds on any of my tunes, but I always try to be original and different.

Thricton if you want your tunes to sound good you will have to invest in a good monitoring system, or you need to know your Sony's so well that you can mix on them, but judging this track, I'm sorry.. :p

I know a member of KOAN Sound works (or used to work) on supercrappy headphones though, but he knows them so well that he can determine wether it sounds good on a proper system.

Oh and definitely keep on making music man, we all started somewhere and it's a looooong road until you get something that's really going to sound awesome.

Sigh. Why do so many of you not understand how lossy compression works? There are a few threads on the production forum discussing this, along with numerous others on sites like gearslutz, discussing the artifacts associated with low bitrate audio. I suggest you read some before saying that a 128 mp3 should sound fine!

were not saying its bad were saying that the mix down is shitty and that its stupid to try and blame compression for the poor mix down
