Zebra 2 is beautiful goodness and crazy flexible. I wouldn't recommend spending on hardware synths before monitoring, room treatment and converters.

There's alot that can be done in a box.

PS. The evolver is pretty damn cool though. And there's always DIY modular stuff if you're unafraid of soldering.

I've got a desktop evolver and as good as they are they not actually that easy or fun to use. Because of the matrix you program it with you can't see straight away what's doing what, so you tend to just sit there thinking what the fucks going on. However they sound like no other synth and if I had the money I would get the mono keyboard version, its got more buttons.

MICROKORG is super cheap and can make lots of neato warbling treats and goodies. I just made a track with the vocoder and me on the mic going "wooo wwouup wup wup" while modin it out...sounds tits man. Just re-sample! Wish I had a Virus TI and will by the time Virus makes somethin way better.

Hot Damn!!

polyevolver (but it's not cheap)

I'm sure I sound like a broken record, but look to the novation X-station as well as the Xio-synth if you are on a budget

You are supposed to use it with the editing software. Heard it makes things much easier.

Zebra 2 is indeed a versatile beast.

Any synth is capable of making good sounds, it's the operator that makes the difference!

too right Tom bass - its the operater that makes the difference. I've had a Virus TI for a year, and don't know shit about synthesis, thought i'd just switch it on and be a badboy producer...aint the case!

have learnt alot since then though

The MS-20 Synth on the Korg Legacy Collection can sound well evil. You can sweep its low pass filter around the lower end with the best resonance on a low pass filter i've heard, and i've the Virus C. Bass you can touch!
