Any Good Packages For Audio?

Just got some cdj's and a mixer (pioneer dmj350) .. and im looking for 2 monitors and sub... now a price range is not great, i recently got some KRK rokit 6's for production but I dont want to fork out on quality for having a mix as i'll have them alot louder when mixing, and i think i would cry if i blew my krk's lol.. just wondering if anyone knows anywhere to get a package that is compatible with the djm350, not too dear, but with a bit of umph thanks!

and while your there wub, where the hell can i find a desk at the right hight to fit the speakers cdjs and mixer on lol ?

ive just thought that those ones i was looking at seem to be more for production not for tearout dubstep if you know what i mean

As for the sub i wouldnt know how to connect that to the mixer without and audiointerface or amp.. the speakers just need an xlr to rca cable..

For mixing do you really need actual monitors? Most 'monitors' in the booth in clubs are just loud speakers pointed at the DJs anyways!

Just go for the biggest/highest frequency range hi-fi/pa speakers you can afford. Which will eliminate the need for a sub; you can get a great pair of 2nd hand speakers which would be overkill with a sub for at home use. Yeah you'll probably need an amp but you can always contact sellers asking which amp they recommend/if they're selling the amp or just look for people selling amps with the speakers.


In short..


Get some Jamo 365's or something off ebay; cheap as chips and bangin' speakers.

I see what your saying legend4ry but those things look like they would blow the roof off my house. two things, if they are active i wouldnt need an amp would i... and also i take the wider the frequency range the more sub bass you get?

I'm confused...is this just for mixing at home? You have a pair of KRKs yet you feel the need to buy another pair?

Monitors are designed to withstand loud signals for long periods of time, you're not going to blow them up and if you have spare cash, sell the KRKs on and upgrade to some Adams or something.

no sorry my krk's im keeping purely for production of my own tunes, the speakers im looking for now are for mixing at home yes, so will tend to have them a little louder but looking for the best in my price range

I don't want to get into an argument with you but I think that this is such a stupid idea and a total waste of money. Just think about it...there is no difference between you playing someone else's tunes loud and producing your own tunes loud; it's just an electric signal.

But anyway, hope you find what you're looking for.

its more to do with space in the room really and i dont tend to have my krk's past half way on volume!

Why not? Rokkit 6 G2s (which I am guessing what you have) are like entry-mid level monitors and they're built pretty solidly, popular too so you can easily find replacement drivers. No one is made of money of course and they are expensive but they ain't as big of an investment as say.. a pair of genelec 8040 or a Adam7x (which seem to be today's "these are the monitors i'll buy and settle with for the rest of my days" for most bedroom producers).

In all seriousness though..

The only time you will blow monitors is if you're clipping sub frequencies to disgusting levels, you make a dangerous feedback loops and you send to much signal through them or if you play them as loud as possible 24/7, 2 of those are purely production related and you are obviously conscious of noise levels and doubt you'll do that.

If you're going to buy another pair of monitors which are primarily for DJing, then i'd get a pair which could also compliment my production rig for better monitoring for mixing down/another system to listen on - so i'd probably invest in something better or similar, I wouldn't downgrade; just my 2 pennies.

I still stand by my first statement of getting a pair of hi-fi speakers or a PA speaker. You'll get a better deal for what you'll be using it for (just playing music, not producing it so you won't need something natural in frequency as possible)

i suppose your right legend.. PA speakers or not they all have volume control!.. that is what i was getting confused with whether to get monitors or PA.. PA speakers seem to be rather pricey though!

im also having a really hard time understanding why you are buying two sets of speakers...

you have a small room, and already have a set of good speakers, but you dont want to use them, so you want to buy a set of PA speakers that you can fit in your small room?

All because you dont want to adjust the volume?

lol @ this thread. im sorry but they are just speakers. dont waste your money getting a second pair for just mixing because you dont need accurate listening levels for mixing. getdarker uses rokkits in their setup (or used not sure if they still do). save your money man

Thousands of producers get great mixdowns on speakers far worse than rokits. I mean, im glad i bought my yamahas, but if i had spent more than a couple hundred id feel like i wasted money. If you feel like your mixdowns arent there yet, look at yourself before you blame your tools.
