In attempt to get into Jungle, will somebody recommend some pioneering Jungle labels that are like what DMZ/Tempa/Tectonic/etc are to Dubstep?
All I know at the moment is Metalheadz.
Thanks all

Should mention Good Looking/Looking Good.
Some Moving Shadow in there.
A bit of RAM.
Also absolutely love Kemet but a lot is a bit more pre-jungle hardcore... but early DMZ is a bit like pre-dubstep garage/grime.

props guys, this journey will be easier than sifting through all the bullshit out there.
I became sort of familiar with Moving Shadow (Omni Trio) and RAM (Andy C) several years ago.
this one blew my mind:

we covered this in another thread a month or two back.
Ram is like DMZ the label.
Ram trilogy is like DMZ the group
The old Ram versus shows were like the DMZ shows
Ram Trilogy and Origin Unknown (both Andy C collab projects) have been relevant for almost 20 years now
^This tune was beyond huge when it came out.
also The Map was MASSIVE

LOL I certainly do hope DMZ doesn't turn out like Ram in 10 years. (Also I will never understand how you can consider The Screamer as anything remotely close to jungle but we've already had that debate haven't we...)
DMZ equivalent hmmmmm. I'd say Tom & Jerry definitely. Few releases of pure quality, by 2 founders of the sound... Reminds you of something ?

Just for those that are exploring and don't know:
Tom & Jerry = 4Hero = Reinforced.
That was 4Hero's soulful ragga-jungle alias.
The early Goldie/Metalheadz stuff was produced by 4Hero as were some of the tracks from Goldie's Timeless album. The rest were produced by Rob Playford from Moving Shadow.

Also Good Looking Records deserve a mention. Very underhyped label when people talk about jungle but they definitely played a big part.

Yeah for sure, I mentioned GLR/LGR.
Hey why is there drum n bass being posted. Screamer was out the same time DMZ started releasing tunes. Not nearly old enough.
91-93 classics

Tom & Jerry (the duo) released loads of their own stuff on their label (Tom & Jerry) and a lot of their plates are quite rare and expensive nowadays.. so i guess they are sort of similar to DMZ in that respect.
I'd like to point out I know very little about Jungle so I'm certainly not comparing how popular these were to how popular DMZ are in the dubstep scene.
Edit: my bad tom & jerry already been mentioned lol

GLR were never mainstream front runners. They were always slightly obscure.
