Beginner Dubstep Tutorials On Youtube
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... ature=plcp Some tutorial to help newcomers to get into the production groove, tell me what you think.
Re: Beginner Dubstep Tutorials On Youtube
I watched the FM8 Heavy Bass tutorial. One thought is that you might consider scripting a little bit. "It's hard to explain" is a bad way to begin and end an explanation. As a matter of general practice, I also think it would definitely help for your audience, regardless of their level of knowledge or skill, to be able to hear a finished product. I worried when I saw the fiddling with the pitch envelope, but I'm in FL where it's super-easy to make a pitch bend of about any size and shape in the piano roll, not sure what the strategy there is with Logic Pro or whatever.

Re: Beginner Dubstep Tutorials On Youtube
The biggest mistake beginners make is looking specifically for dubstep tutorials. When all of your production knowledged is based on one person's song making tutorial you're going to end up making the same uninspired and copycat tunes over and over, and you wont be expressing your own true creativity. Instead find tutorials on how to use the specific DAW you've chosen. These tutorials can usually be found on the websites/forums of the respective DAW.
Also learn sampling techniques (if sample based music is something you want to explore), and you MUST learn synthesis (FM, granular etc) if you want to be effective in creating new sounds that are original and sound the same as what you hear in your head. If you keep Youtube-ing "filthy bass tutorial ni massive", then you'll be making the same sounds as everyone else to replace the lack of knowledge on creating original sound.
If you're jet set on dubstep being your primary genre of production then you can use the youtube tutorials just to learn about song structures and possible drum patterns to get you in the swing of formal production. For this I suggest Kev Willow's dub step tutorials on Youtube. They seem to be more in-depth than others.
I would also take time to learn mixing down, but only later down the line after experimenting with sounds and making tracks.
TL;DR: Learn how to produce, not just produce dubstep.
