people like Joker, 2000f & J.Kamata, Guido, Ginz, Gemmy...
some tracks from Silkie, Mensah, Starkey, Terror Danjah are considered purple too

purple used to be what bridged the gap between dubstep & hiphop
but in the last, id say 12-24 months that gap has practically dissapeared with producers like Girl Unit

anyway, for me the distinctive thing about purple sound has been the certain funkyness and the full sounding saws and smooth squares, big ones. i haven't ever thought about the hip hop thing, but now that u mention it..
i herd the purpl term came when people like RA wanted to call this new sound something and joker wore all purple in the promo pics so they started calling it that

Or you can just call it the Brizzle Sound. Of course, much like "Purple" (some people called it "wonky" as well though this just adds to the confusion) that term doesn't cover the entire load.
Idle Hands or LivitySound could be a Brizzle sound as well in a totally different aspect of music. Purple Brizzle.
