TouchOSC - Is it Good Enough to Produce With?

Now I've recently bought FL Studio 10 and Massive on sale, as I have.. 'prior' experience with them. Now I've starting learning all the technical side of things, I've found more and more guides are beginning to reference to the use of a MIDI controller. Unfortunately, I have no spare cash to buy anything, and the only MIDI controller I own is a Mixtrack Pro. Seeing as this isn't really all that convenient, I've starting looking at alternatives.
The first one I came across was TouchOSC. Seeing as I have an android phone, I installed it and set it up so it's recognised on my computer.
Tl;dr
Is TouchOSC suitable for amateur production?
Are there any issues I should be aware of, latency or otherwise?
Are there any alternatives I could use?
Thanks

Are you noticing any latency? Don't know why you even need to ask that one when you can check for yourself. I've never used TouchOSC, but try to produce with it. If it works for you, then why not use it?

It's probably easier just to use your mouse and keyboard than your phone...

It's good to use for X/Y pads.

Latency would kind of depend on your connection though. I don't really get any latency personally.

Thanks for the replies

I'm not getting enough latency for it to be an issue at the moment, I was just wondering if it got worse for some people.
I would use my mouse and keyboard except FL screws up with Massive when I put any notes on the sequencer, and I cba getting a keyboard configured.

I never really got into touchOSC. It's neat, but I feel like its faster to use a mouse and keyboard.
How are you using it in your workflow if you don't mind me asking? Just kinda curious.

Also, I know this thread is old and this has probably been adreses already, but there should be very little latency between iOS device and your computer if using a wifi (adhoc) network. I'm actually using my iPads as midi keyboards without a problem.
Now, if only iconnectmidi2 will finally come out to make things even better.

Gonna try and use it as a control surface in Reaper, esp. for VST automation. There are times when I really want control over more than one aspect of the plug at the same time in ways that normal key controllers don't offer - basically looking to "play" the parameters in real time with multi-touch. Latency not typically an issue for either iOS and TouchOSC, but the Android version is another story.

I use TouchOSC both in studio (Default LIve Template thing) and that works pretyt well and is fun to have in the studio. I also created a dj tempalte to replace my old and failing BCR2000, works well for this as well.
Paper Diamond runs his entire show from a TouchOSC setup.
