Dubstep Sample Contest I

Post by roqqert » Fri Jul 27, 2007 5:33 pm

Welcome to the first Dubstep Sample Contest

The rules are quite simple ;

1: Make sickass dubsteptrack
2: Use ONLY, I repeat, ONLY the samples who are in the pack.
If i find a sample who isnt in the pack youre off the game ;).
3: Get some fun and try to get a better vision with samples and not only
your freakin little vsti's :P (synths)
4: You've a better chance to win if you mix all the samples in your track.
With that you'll show your skills in vision of the pack etc.
5: I also look to producingskills. How is your mixdown etc. Dont make a
mess of it ;) Try the best you can do !

Ok ladys and gentlepeople. Let the games begin. Download the pack and get to work.

Deadline : 4th of August.

(sorry for such a fast deadline... im going on holiday on the 5th)

The pack : http://www.speedyshare.com/367865169.html

PS : Upload your track with zshare/speedyshare. Zshare or div... (dont know the site, but ive seen it alot on this forum) would be better.
myspace or virb links are also oke. I'll make a list if i got some contest tracks in this topic.

greetz, Roqqert

Fun! Will see if I come up with something for this one.

Nothing is for fun. You always win something. Maybe even a bucket, if you're good enough.

PS. Any chance of wav/aiff/other-non-lossy format versions of the samples? If not, that's cool, but y'know - it's always preferred. :)

PSS. The "winning" ninja gets to do the next sample pack, is that how we roll here?

No doubt, but one can't get rid of the artifacts caused by mp3 encoding. My questions was out of quality, not laziness (I got batch conversion and a rather well trained dog to deal with that ;)).

Sample pack is only 8MB as it is now, and I doubt it'd be more than 50-75 as original Wavs. No biggie for any of the free ***share/mediafire/gotdarker sites.

Just a thought.

This is cool, some good samples in that pack. I've got a nice fat 16 bars rolling.

We posting the tunes in here, or the 'dubs' section of the forum?

cutting samples

Post by MARCHMELLOW » Mon Jul 30, 2007 10:07 pm

Are we allowed to cut the samples up? for example cutting up the drums to make your own pattern?
