yea need to see this, my mate says theres a random pic of me at FWD in it .....
@markle - i think its a big shame and a massive error for exodus/subdub not to be mentioned, simon scott brought DMZ to subdub back room when dubstep was still a baby a couple years ago..... its like DMZ 2nd home, and has grown and grown and now become Exodus/DMZ on IRATION STEPPAZ sound system, i would say its pretty much one of, if not THE biggest scale dubstep night in uk .....
intrested to read it .... cant get hold of it in my rubbish town, out in the sticks, lol, would love a scan pls pls pretty pls

good work with the scanning and all, but why do you keep watermarking stuff that is quite clearly not under your copyright? if anything you're just going to draw attention to the fact that you're the ones uploading copyrighted material while the magazines are still available to buy in the shops.
strikes me as self-publicity gone too far imho - just make sure it doesn't backfire on you innit.

my purpose is to create this
http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=25050
but ofc if the article is still on sales i won't put it this section
I didn't know that when i've requested a scan.
So big apologies.
Ofc i gonna contact every journalsits before posting the official thread about press in dubstep.
I already have some authorisations from some of them.
I hope i am not making trouble cause my purpose is only to help dubstep artists.

its along the same lines as ppl that rip tunes and put thier name as the rippers after the tune name lmao
1. no one cares who ripped, copied, scanned, recorded whatever it is your trying to take credit for
and 2. like mos dan said, you dont own it to tag it!!

yeah mate, you're not doing anything wrong! requesting a scan is fine, uploading one while a mag is still on sale is not. i don't own dj mag, i don't have shares in dj mag, i don't write for dj mag, hell i don't even read dj mag - but as a hack i know how these things work, and if dj mag think even one person has read the scan online rather than buy a copy, they're going to be pissed, and rightly so.
once mags/papers are off the shelves then go for it - i think your idea is a good one bun
its along the same lines as ppl that rip tunes and put thier name as the rippers after the tune name lmao
never mind using id3 tags, getdarker put their name ON the mp3 -with an audio watermark or whatever it's called. i mean fine, be my guest and do that, but as a 'consumer' it drives me effing crazy. like twatty says, it ain't yours to tag!! this is the digital age m8

sorry no disrespect to Kontakt in anyway possible but if they r in the top dubstep club nights then exodus/subdub should defintley be in my honest opinion.no one remember digital mystikz, loefah live at subdub on radio 1 last year?

What about people who read the magazine in the shops without buying?
Why does the Guardian and many other newspapers and magazines post their articles online for everyone to read without requiring any registration?
DJ Mag have posted the article (the one that we have also scanned and uploaded) on their website:
http://www.djmag.com/index.php?op=story ... ord=&page=
Its not like we are classing it as our item as on this page (
http://www.getdarker.co.uk/?id=7&tid=510) we classify that it is a DJ MAG article. Giving credit where credit is due.
So yeah, if you pull your head out of your ass and actually do your research before you flame, you will realise we dont actually have the SKREAM press cutting on our site - only the one from the previous issue. DARKSIDE made a mistake and obviously has a different issue than the one that is out now.
We provide a service, and to stop people ripping and hotlinking the stuff we upload, we watermark it. Which means, if someone decides to direct link to an image from their myspace or what ever, we atleast get a bit of credit for hosting it. You do know people have to pay for data transfer right? You might be more familiar with the name "bandwith". For example, I found a couple of sites direct linking to the BunZer0 studio mix that was exclusive to us (a very big mix mind you, so I dont really blame them), and if you think about it, a 100mb file or what ever, add a hundred downloads, thats 10gb of bandwith un-accounted for - but luckily for us we have measures implemented to make sure people cant just hotlink to files in our media center like that without us people seeing (or hearing) a bit of branding.
Dont see what your hype is all about or what you are trying to really get at. Unlike most other magazines, we arent exactly profiting or covering our costs at all. Everything we do is to promote events, artists and media regarding Grime & Dubstep....I mean, we dont even have a donation box, let alone people paying us to display their ads.
My golly gosh has this wound me up....

And 'scanned' images are NEVER uploaded, until the source is OUT OF DATE.

Check this thread about dubstep on the DJ mag forum, I'd have expected some of them peeps to be a bit more open minded.
I actually find dubstep nights to have a better atmosphere than other current nights which seem to be full of coke casualties.

i don't know why, i'm just expressing my opinion.. one i'm probably not alone in. all i'm saying is:
*i find audio watermarking really annoying, to the point that i actively seek out other mp3s of live sets. that is an expression of my *opinion* as a *consumer*, that's not flaming. i hear you about bandwidth and all, i'm just choosing to prefer something else. i think it's great you host old DJ EZ sets, for example, i just don't want to hear the music 'branded' - and i expect EZ wouldn't be massively into it either. if it is necessary then fine, carry on.
*the press articles.. well, if you're not uploading stuff that's still on sale then fine, well done! i was just trying to help you avoid getting a bunch of 'cease and desist' letters, sheezus.
Why does the Guardian and many other newspapers and magazines post their articles online for everyone to read without requiring any registration?
looooooool do i actually have to explain this for you? they MAKE MONEY FROM ADVERTS ON THEIR SITE. that's why they provide free content.. free content that they own the copyright to, i might add.

I hear ya, and i agree Sub Dub is an institution. Just think the journo was trying to give exposure to other nights around the country doing good stuff.
THe DJ Mag forum is full of seriously narrow minded individuals. You have to ignore it or go mad.
Has anyone seen the latest RWD mag featuring Hatcha, Chef and Hijak...that's something to pick holes in.

No mag is ever ever going to get it right. For every article published I could go on about what's a load of bollox, who's been missed out etc.
As for watermarking, why not? It's not alot to deal with for having the pleasure of downloading it in the first place. If you can't take it then don't download.

. Didn't know that Hijak was Skream's younger bro tho?
