Not happy with the quality. I did try to quick master this just with a limiter that's reducing 2-3db.

Looking for advice on how to get cleaner, tighter, punchier mixdowns.

I am currently studying the "money shot thread".

Now I'm thinking that this file sounds this way because I failed to carve out a specific dominant frequency for every sound in the mix.
Listening to the track above, does this sound like the problem?
Also, is there anything else you can hear in this track causing it to go wrong?

first off I would say that your drop doesn't have the impact you're going for because so much of the space that that bass sound occupies, is being taken up in the intro with your other sounds. I would eq a lot of the low and mids in your opening synths. This will provide more impact. And yea, you're onto it with your second post. With your artistical direction in the context of timbre selection, the upper register open saw/chord stabs....they carry the energy over from the intro, but are brought down with that [organ] type sound. The energy is anticlimactic when the bass comes in. Revisit composition/synthesis/sample selection for your upper synths. In other words, it's like the intro builds into another intro. The second drop accomplishes more of what I'm talking about that the first is lacking. Also, keep in that money shot thread. Overall mixdown and EQ work is still needed. Keep at it. Great start and much to look forward to.
