Lamb of God vocalist charged with manslaughter

The Guardian wrote:Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe has been arrested by Czech police in connection with the 2010 death of one of the metal band's fans. The singer was charged with manslaughter two years after he allegedly pushed a man from a concert stage. He has been released on bail.

Lamb of God were due to play in Prague on Thursday, but police took Blythe into custody as soon as the band arrived in the country. Czech prosecutors allege that on 24 May 2010, the American singer clashed with a fan during their gig at Prague's Klub Abaton. He allegedly pushed the 19-year-old off the stage; the man hit the concrete floor and, 14 days later, died of injuries to his head. According to TV Nova, the autopsy found the victim was not drunk or under the influence of drugs.

On Wednesday, Prague police charged Blythe with "bodily harm of the fourth degree resulting in [death]". He faces up to 10 years in prison if found guilty. The 41-year-old appeared in court, Blesk.cz reported (via Exclaim), where a judge ruled that he was a flight risk. Although Blythe will be permitted to post bail at 4m Czech korun (£130,000), he was ordered to remain in the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, the rest of Lamb of God have returned to the United States. "Finally HOME! 4/5 of us anyway," guitarist Mark Morton wrote on Twitter. "I can't wait to give Randy a big bear hug and kiss his pointy, stubbly face!" The band's management deny the charges, saying the case is still under investigation. "Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind," wrote their publicist, Maria Ferrero. "This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head."

Formed in Richmond, Virginia, in 1990, Lamb of God are legends of southern metal. They have released seven albums and performed four times at Download festival in the UK.
I dont know what to think about this really, bit of a fucked up situation

that's pretty bad. If him pushing the guy killed him then he should be punished, no question about that surely?

The security contractors should have to answer for themselves too

Not necessarily. If he acted in his own defense, it's excusable. And as far as penal law goes, security contractors have nothing to do with the manslaughter itself, only with the civil aspects.

Have to expect a little rowdy-ness at metal gigs, tbf. Think it's just a little case of bad luck, but obviously if he pushed him then he has committed manslaughter.

Just like to add that this fucking band blows.

Absolutely outrageous claim. Lamb of God are quality, all the members are fantastic with their instruments. I love the bassist and the drummer.

It says in the article that there wasn't a scrap; the kid just jumped on stage three times.

Shitty situation, but I think there is a good chance of him getting off this if he doesn't try running away.

Have heard a similar story, a friend of a friend was playing in Italy, rocked out and threw his guitar into the audience. Hit some girl and cracked her skull. The guy honestly was like, but it is rock and roll, how can I be responsible for the hospital bills?

==

Anyway in this case, sounds like he was being attacked and defended himself.

Fuck... an Eastern European prison gig sounds scary. I mean, any prison gig really, but... yeah. :(

Oh, and I've seen Motorhead a ton of times and Lemmy mercilessly kicks in the gut ANY fool who tries stage diving on his watch... while wearing pointy-ass cowboy boots. Ouch.

Naw, Varg Vikernes. Norwegian black metal. He played session bass for one of Mayhem's albums, but wasn't a member.
