Hey
It's finally the time I can buy my own laptop.
I decided to buy Samsung RF511 with 8 gb ram, Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.00 - 2.90 GHz processor, 640gb HDD (windows 7)
Will it do for music production? :)
There it is The site is in polish, unfortunately

I've used their hard drives in the past and they often fail.

I think you can produce anything with that computer ;)

I'd look to get a SSD in there too somewhere. Your system will be faster overall and you can also install your VSTs onto it so your DAW will respond super fast to everything :)
Oh, and of course get the Ivy Bridge i7.

I'd actually go with an i5 2500k. i7s are kind of a waste of money considering my songs with 200+ tracks still dont push my CPU over 25%. And thats without overclocking enabled.

And get at least a tb. Music projects fill up your hard drive fast. Wouldn't bother with an ssd either when you could buy a couple spinning drives instead for the same price. As long as its 7200rpm you'll be fine, especially because youre already running a brand new rig.

I agree with Attila.

My i5 Sandybridge is a workhorse of note.
