im trying to think of the Defenition of Dubstep im not so sure whot it is the best idea iv came up with is that its the best music ive heard but still im not sure do you have any idea whot it could be??????

I reckon it depends on whats meant by tech house. Nowadays thats a term which can refer to a very broad spectrum of music (although is probs a little misused here). I definately think that techno has played a fair part in dubsteps development. Basic Channel (and clearly their development into Rhythm & Sound) is an obvious reference point for a number of artists (kode9 and pinch have said so outright). This is quite a way from what most ppl call tech house but when you try to divide stuff up it all gets pretty confusing anyway. And i reckon mala must have listened to a bit of house/techno in his time.

Its a shame, i reckon plastikman has a bad rep on our scene cos of the whole name change thing, but his music is incredible. In terms of the development of the use of space in sound and his cavernous atmosphere i think theres a strong comparison with dubstep. Again, burial put an old-school plastikman tune in his top 10 of the year last year. And plastikman regularly drops rhythm & sound tunes in his sets. So i reckon there are a lot of crossovers

While i dont know much about the development of techno and house, I suspect that the division between them was never that great, before they split into hundreds of sub-genres, some of which I guess are the root of some people's aversion to the word house! Theres always divergence but then theres always convergence and cross-pollination. If that makes any sense

Plastikman is minimal techno... definately dubby at times.

50g of Jungle on valium

dubstep is like a skeleton of grime. living in the gut of garage.
the skeletal beats mixed with the dark hollow wasteland expanse like its homeland London. but occasionaly dere is a glimmer of light or flash of colour that cuts fru all da screamin subbass and it bursts into colour.

Of course other technological advances in music made it possible 2 form soundscapes as this. and yeh it does borrow themes from all musics like grime does alot. but Grime and Dubstep r da newest types of music and are genres both in their own right

i wouldnt say they were the newest genres of music, both been around a while really.

if you want real new music, try Yugoslavian three quarter step

listing dubstep's influences is all well and good but it's now more important the producers in the scene find new and unique ideas i reckon.

I'd like to see some classical Dubstep, in the way that Rossz Scillag by venetian snares was a classical breakcore album. that would be fucking shit hot. the intro to skreams set @ grimelock brussels is the closest thing ive heard so far

just so happens that theres a remix of the nutcracker-dubstep style but i cant tell you where to get it coz its illegal download
