MC? Lyrisist? or Artist?
Anyway
I'd say Krs one, but hes only my best artist when everythign is taken into account.
Guru back in Gangstar days, or on any Jazzmataz album.
AZ, proper underated with a real nice flow. some of my favorite Hip Hop songs are by or featuring him.
The only version of this track i have on my PC:

right now i'd say MF DOOM.
not the most skilled in technique but he uses such random and surreal imagery in his lyrics to beautiful effect.

Yeh, i've never got the appeal for his stuff, but then i dont really like alot of the beats in the first place. Maybe a reason why i DO love his KMD days.rekorder wrote:well each to their ownThomas wrote:When he was in KMD, i would say hes heavy. Still not top 5 but a good emcee none the less. Fancy uploading some Mp3s of something more recent from him?

Dangerdoom is a quality album. Worth a look. I think it's a collaboration with Dangermouse.Thomas wrote:Yeh, i've never got the appeal for his stuff, but then i dont really like alot of the beats in the first place. strange u didnt warm to madvillainy, thats like my favourite record. and imo his colabs w/madlib are his best work. Curls? Strange Ways? All Caps? they do nothing for u????? weird.Thomas wrote:Yeh, ive heard both of them and didnt warm to them at all.
I have to admit, i havent looked much further than them two really..only hearing random bits on radio or what ever.
try and check out some of his viktor vaughn and king geedorah stuff.
DOOM is really versatile tho, try and check out his collaborations with daedelus, dabrye etc and keep a lookout for the upcoming colab with ghostface.

its hard to say.
i think its between:
big daddy kane
jeru the damaja
kool g rap
guru
all the wu tang crew
mfs doom and grimm
i'd say krs but he really is too preachy, like he says himself. also his style can piss me off after 5 tracks or so. would rather listen to special ed.
if i HAD to choose one it would be JERU THE DAMAJA cos he is a well rounded emcee, he's got good lyrical content, good flow, and a good voice.
