i succeeded in making the weirdest sounding sh*t ever.
and believe me, i tried.

weak kick, the basses sound nice, but the drums dont have much of a prescence...

i always mess up the bass when the kick is too deep. so i made it weak.

try sidechaining or some EQ notching to get them to mix together

i'm new at this. i don't sidechain. and i did eq'ing to lower the deep kick. but i'll crank it a little bit next time.

The bass patches are ok, but try to make it more "musical". I suggest to start with the more oldschool sound, because its easier to mix, and you learn how to make great drum patterns and rhythmical basslines, and not just rely on the filthiness of dem midbass wubz... trust me, because i made the mistake myself

I wonder who came up with that kick/bass sidechain story... i dont get it, a proper selected, tuned and equed kickdrum will NOT clash with your bassline.

no seriously: always remember that sidechaining will not replace good mixing.
Also you should make your drums peak the highest, because they are essential for groove, punch and energy.

pretty retarded statement. sidechaining has more effects than just blending kick and sub..take kryptic minds for example, they sidechain their shakers with a very hard knee to the main drum kit to make the shakers duck around all the other drums. unless you were to actually draw in all the automation for each shaker hit, i don't see how else this would be accomplished. that being said i do agree with good mixing being a higher priority than sidechaining.

OP, even though your track is brostep synth fapping, if you're just starting out you have a good start. read up on compression, you could honestly slap a compressor or even a hard limiter on that drum kit and get it more prominent in the mix, provided you've done a little homework. keep it up.

i thought the smiley plus the next sentence, wich begins with "no seriously" would make clear that this wasn't to be taken serious.
Of course sidechaining can get you nice effects and can be used really creative and intelligent, but i think in this very case, good mixing and proper EQ would be the better choice.
