This videos actually brilliant. He talks as if he's taking the piss while actually delivering some sound info on a well produced track. Kinda like this is really funny I'm making a tutorial haha, and here's how I made this kickass sound

Iv already uninstalled Massive and I'm just gonna try manipulating samples for a bit now

this guys on the same course as me at college, either a different level or different year im not sure, my tutor keeps showing me his tracks and telling me to do a tune with him

jr do you understand what hes doing with vocodex? his settings are this



I tried using a similar distorted sound and putting a vocodex on with similar settings, but i cant replicate it. Is it even vocoding anything since there is no carrier synth?

The vocoder emphasizes on the modulation. The same signal acts as both carrier and modulator, so the sound is vocoding itself. Put simply, its making the loud freqs louder and the quiet freqs quieter.
