There's so much dubstep hate out there right now

i wish it didn't bother me that there's this massive wave of ignorant fucks hating on dubstep caused by the fact that their friends on face book likely post utter and complete shit day in and day out

and thus caused them to never give it the time of day no matter how good the song you try to show them - i suppose disliking even the genre as a whole is one thing, but to dismiss it entirely as shit untalented music just makes me :u:

it shouldnt bother me.

but it so really does. and i cant stand it.

what do you do to try to convert people - do you even attempt it

There is so much quality stuff out there and so many new releases coming up..

If your friends/people don't bother, why would you?

I personally don't try to convert people. Even if someone asks me, I don't expect anyone to be as excited as I am about a genre. If they are, great!

There are far, far more important things in life to worry about what music other people are listening to.

Don't worry about it man, people will be people, and you can garuntee that 90% of people out there view music as a product to be consumed rather than an art. Dubstep as a genre has evolved into so many flavours nowadays, and will continue to grow. The more "mainstream dubstep" will hopefully cause a few more people to delve deeper into the music, and in turn keep the music alive bringing fresh sounds if they get into the Dj'ing or producing side. At the end of the day, I think that the pop/bro/whatever the next fad will be over in a couple of years, and then the term won't get thrown around so loosely. Also, as long as you are listening to what you like, does it matter what anybody else listens to/posts on facebook etc.?

this

But if you're truly bothered by it, just play some tunes when you have them over at your place or drag them to a night or whatever.

What gets me is how you get DJs saying that Dubstep isn't a genre you can play by itself, which is strange considering how Dubstep culture is very DJ-centric.

i personally stopped caring about this very quickly.

just care about the music you listen too, the journey it takes you on, truthfully, the others are missing out, but in due time they might discover what they've been missing.

i like too think i produce the deeper sounds, especially of recent, my mates always like too hear what i'm working on, the other day one of my mates told me about how he loves Mala - Changes and Coki - Celestial Dub.
they know the sound i'm into, but i've never pushed it on them, even when we hang, i play the stuff that is more appealing too their tastes (most of the time it's not even dubstep/bass music, it's usually Om unit/Cosmic Bridge releases or hip hop) and now they are showing the appreciation for the sound i've loved for years, it's cool as shit

Just push the sound you love, maybe without attaching a a label to it if it's the label that's putting people off.

point number 1, im sorry but if i hear another artist/label imitating burials style i might actually shoot someone- its really tiring after a while hearing the same tape being played on repeat,

point number 2, dubstep has blown up and imploded, this is standard practice for anything that ends up going mainstream, then u get the predictable backlash, and finally the realization by those same kids that "the movement" is over and but they were glad to be apart of the journey blah blah blah, same old story different genre, different time.

point number 3, i like dubstep, i think its one of the big musical innovations of our generation and to hate it would be a shame.

1 burial does not own the sound of lo-fi future garage, and
2 what does that have to do with anything else being discussed here

sorry the thread title pissed me off onto a rant....

it has everything to do with why i personally hate the music industry and consequently parts of dubstep, he does not own that sound ur right but why on earth do people feel the need and/or want to imitate him, what is the point of having replicas of that sound....
