Lost entire sample library

Topic pretty much says it all. It is completely my fault because I re installed windows, with everything backed up to a harddrive that i also use as my Xbox. Xbox configured it and lost it off the hard drive while i was setting up computer. Anyways I am wondering where I should go for the best samples as my collection was semi-lame anyway because I only used free samples. this time I want the best free or cheap (under $20) packs that you guys can advise for me.
Also I know any max 5 plugins that you deem necessary in your production or other plugins in general. I have already searched the forums on Google DSF and many of those posts seem outdated.

Loopmaste gives away 10 free samples of every pack they make, check some of those out.
Also look to the bedroom producers blog they have a ton of free shit there as well
+1 for the Loopmaste deep house/ funk sample pack, well worth the money

I similarly had my HD crash recently and because I'm an idiot who doesn't back stuff up I lost about 95% of my sample library. I was in the process of culling it anyway and I'm half glad it's all gone now. the only sample packs I'm grabbing are the ones by goldbaby, driven machine drums and loops de la creme.
tbh I use Reason and the factory sound bank is pretty decent...

I'd just like to use this thread to point out this is another reason why sampling vinyl is the shit.
Unless my house burns down or someone steals my crusty old record collection I'm swayze

You are talking a whole other language there...
Also, OP, you should make backups of your backups. But fuck it, take the Buddhist perspective of non attachment and think of it as a new opportunity.

You can actually get the files back 95% of the time if you want. Even if it's been formatted, the files are still there unless it was zero written which is rare. The files only go away once those blocks are overwritten with new data. Look into recovery programs like Recover My Files if you want any of it back. Done that successfully several times on people's systems I fix.

Indeed. I have used a program called Recuva with good success.

It depends if your heart was really at one with those samples...

Goldbaby have a free section on their website.
And yeah, backup your backups. If your data doesn't exist in at least three places, it might as well not exist.

Why does Nexus keep getting so much praise.
I used it back in my Psy Trance days and I still prefer Vanguard.
It was like a step back for refx in my opinion.

Nexus is just a ROMpler so it does have some excellent sounds. I'd rather spend the money on something like Omnisphere though. I'd never spend the 2.5k or whatever on Nexus Complete though, that's a joke.

That's my point though Wormcode.
It's a rompler that didn't amaze me.
Presets and built in sounds.
At least omnisphere has a synthesis engine and a solid one at that.
As far as refx goes, Vanguard is still one of the best they've made.
With Tone2 Gladiator being the vanguard replacement, he did a far better job of that than Nexus.
Nexus was marketed to the kids who promptly lapped it up.
Go into deeper synthesis with Gladiator and you realize how much more power Vanguard and Gladiator have under the hood.

Didn't know that about Gladiator/Vanguard - cool. I did enjoy Vanguard when I used it.
Nexus is a big marketing thing yes. It even has Vengeance logos/sounds which the company is tied into being co-designed by Manuel Schleis and all. The interface is really nice though I'll say.

wow this got off topic. My data cannot be recovered because I was forced into re installing windows.

That doesn't matter, it's still there unless you started filling up the hard drive already. When you start copying more data to it, that's when old files actually get removed for good. So if it's just Windows on there, should still be able to get plenty back.

I wish I could man, but I haven't had a Facebook for years. Too much stupidity on there these days getting spammed with like this or you go to hell shit.
I remember hearing a track of yours when I first joined this forum but I don't see it on your spundcloud anymore. :/ Idek the name. But the bassline was real groovy so to speak.
