Danny Scrilla is changing the way people think about German-made electronic music; no it’s not techno, bass, industrial or anything you’d expect. It’s actually a lot of fun in a more bumpin’ and thumpin’ sort of way. The Munich-based producer encapsulates a sound that’s reminiscent of bits of dancehall, drum ‘n bass, and even harkening not-so-far-back to the heyday vibes of skweee. What he ultimately does is capture a sonic essence that’s simultaneously for the heads nodding and for the fists that are pumping, albeit slower in speed than one might think. Heavy on lush synths and beats that embody the phrase “OOMPH”, Scrilla’s newest release Om Unit’s Cosmic Bridge label is a heater from start to finish. Garnering influences from techno, broken beats, hip-hop and everything in between, Scrilla’s Flash Powder EP is a stunner for the mind and body, even getting Om Unit to join on the fun with the last track on the release. With our obvious appreciation and fascination at the forefront, URB asked Danny to make an exclusive mixtape to highlight his talents and taste. He didn’t disappoint.
