Best Headphones for around $100

Hey Guys, looking for some headphones that are not in ear. They don't leak to much sound, have good sound (especially bass), and are comfortable. My mate got Beats by Dre, but after reading a fair bit on some websites you can get similar ones for alot less. If you guys could give me some options that be great. What I have been looking at is:

Audio-Technical ATH-M30 $59
Grado SR80i $99
Grado SR60i $79

Is it worth spending the extra and getting one closer to $100 than some of the other options, feel free to add some more.

Thanks
Daniel

If you were considering beats for music production, you have no business being here.

Research guitar center and find one with a low range of like 10-15. My first pair was some Shure SRH440s.

All the kids at my school think beats are great, but after research they are definatly not that great. I want good dubstep headphones. Cheers.

Irrelevant to OP, but have any of you guys tried the Sony MDR-7520s? The specs look amazing.

Actually just buy some iPod earphones. I'm sure it won't have any effect on the music you listen to anyway.

Thanks.

Guitar Center has good deals. Currently a $200 rebate on Maschine.

If you're just a music listener, get the beats. They're okay but defiantly not worth the money.

Don't buy those stupid Dre Beats crap, they're terrible.

If you want headphones that are good for music listening AND producing, get the Sennheiser HD-280 headphones:

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-280 ... B000065BPB

They have a good flat frequency response, excellent isolation (you won't hear a damn thing other than music while you're wearing these), and they're pretty comfy once they're broken in. Bass is deep but controlled, not over emphasized.

Seriously, they're worth every penny.

That's marketing in its purest form.

Can I come and smack them back into their moma's crevasses?
Can't believe they got Nero on their commercials, Nero's old releases on Audio Phreaks were bombing and inspirational. If I was offered it, I would refuse it immediately. Why has Nero done this? They were really good on the album though :W: :W:

Can't blame people who aren't fully immersed in the scene for being taken in by clever marketing. When I was still in London, I'd see on average 4/5 pairs of Beats a day.

Whether they're any good or not is irrelevant...if they have a name attached and a lot of people wear them and they're noticeable, people will want them.

These are casual listeners...they're not audiophiles, they're not DJs, they're not producers. They're just people who want to listen to music and wouldn't mind looking 'cool' whilst doing it. As such, Beats fill that particular gap of the market perfectly. SkullCandy tried a similar approach a couple of years ago but lacked big name sponsorship to really achieve a decent share.
