Today I got a pair of JLB S38II's. I initially thought they came with the correct cables and I'd be able to just hook them up through my M-Audio Mobile Pre Audio Interface. Sadly, both of these assumptions were not the case. I don't have the correct cables and I found out they are not self powered. So my question is this; what cabling would i need, and what amp would i need to hook them up to my AI. i hate to sound like a rookie but these monitors are the last part of my studio and i just want to get everything set up. any help would be appreciated.

Go to the manual and find out what outputs the monitors have.
Find out what inputs the M-Audio has.
Get a cable that has the required connections.
The same logic can be applied to the power cable.

So you frown on my help but you couldn't spend the time to search for the answer?
I frown on you.
To help you though, I will google the answer and give it to you.

Re: quick question about my new monitors
Most people suggest an adcom preamp.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/sis.html?_kw=AD ... +processor
The cables will be dependent on the connections provided with the preamp and Audio interface.
If those are too much then do a search for a similar product in terms of power output.

Honestly for the prices of amps (you don't want to skimp on the amp), I'd sell the JBLs and take that money along with the money you were going to spend on an amp and cables and just buy some active nearfields instead. Are they even studio monitors, or just speakers? I've not heard much about JBL in the monitor field except for surround type setups.

Re: quick question about my new monitors
shitty amps suck, and you want enough power to drive the speakers smoothly. Get a used crown or hafler if you can; iv'e been using a 250watt hafler from the 80s to drive my ns10s. Not cheap, but well-made and better than anything found in cheap powered monitors.

I didn't realize NS10's weren't powered. That blows. I have too many cables as it is.
