Just been sent some "promo " releases in 256kbps......... He said this what he rendered em at, and what theyve cut the wax with (the 256kbps file)...
there sound guy says hes made some form of compression that makes it sound as good as a wav..
IM NOT ASKING FOR THE THEORY ABOUT SOUND, BITRATE, ANALOGUE VS DIGI, VBR ETC ETC.... i know this
Just asking if it sounds like to you lot that these lot are talking bollocks and in fact are just bein a bit snidey and not wanting to send me 320s/WAV to play n cut...
(BTW, ME AND SAID PEOPLE ARE MATES AND HAVE A GOOD WORKING RELATIONSHIP...)
thoughts??? and plus they said theyve cut plates at that bitrate....... does anyone know of a cutting house thatll even AGREE to cut plates at that bitrate? not that im intending to...

I wouldn't have thought anywhere would cut anything from a compressed file, surely they'd only accept wavs/aiffs?

It`d be `expansion`, not compression, and it is technically possible but might not be exactly what it was rendered from (i.e. the track in the DAW).
It`s probably part of the mastering process, use you ears to judge if it`s any good or not

Why on earth would anyone cut plates in 256 kbps quality? Might as well play out YouTube rips...
