Those Facebook share this pic to win CDJs competitions
Just seen this one pop up on my feed tonight https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater
and after googling cdj 1000s i came across this ad on gumtree posted a month ago http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/2x-pi ... /105501480 clearly using the same image, a month before 'rush records' apparently got their 1000s from a very generous (fictional) uncle.
now ive always been sceptical (never believed any) of these share for the chance to win X things on facebook but the fact that so many pages from totally unknown companies/labels are doing it i feel like i need to vent this somewhere as so many people (some of questionable intelligence) on my facebook are falling victim to this. i understand it is a clever way to generate publicity for shit labels but i think it is just sad and lame tricking people into doing this (though i thought it would be fairly obvious to most that the majority of them were bullshit and that no one would ever receive the prize). if it were real it would make more sense for this no name label to keep the cdjs for themselves or sell them and use the profit to fund their label rather than getting a load of pointless likes from people that are only interested in winning something and will probably never listen the music on the page or even look at it again except in curiosity as to who may have won the prize other than them.
I figured this was the best place to vent my anger/see if i wasnt the only one who had noticed this?
peace x

this is a good way to generate a bit of chatter on the interwebz.... but when people figure it out it generally turns to shit anyway.

in the past i had ignored them, but this time i felt compelled to research it to prove to myself it was indeed a load of bullshit. would be nice if you could show people commenting that it was a load of shit but alas im sure my comment on the picture will be lost amongst thousands of comments like 'sick totaly gonna win dese i luv cdjs and mixin mpfrees looool' and 'plez let me win dem'. posted on 'rush records' wall in my late night rage but im sure they will just delete it, oh well. back to writing the uni essay i need to hand in in 7 hours, woops.

i love a good exposé, nice catch. how did you connect those dots? did you really just suspect that they were full of bologna and google the make/model? if so, your instinct is superb.

reverse image searches work great for this type of stuff
go to google images, press the camera, and then link or upload the picture. search by image and it'll show you pages where that picture has shown up

I did one with a raised eyebrow. If all it takes is a share, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Though when they're only using stock images, I'm already pretty certain it's not true.
Most people are probably fishy about these. Just not the ones massively commenting on them.

Re: Those Facebook share this pic to win CDJs competitions
Some of them are genuine though. Usually not the cdjs but I mean there are genuine companies giving stuff away and labels running competitions.
