Sorry if I'm trolling but I wanted to know why so many producers still use theses samples everytime

Because the 808 is an iconic piece of kit and has a very distinct sound.

Nothing really else to say, it's like asking why the Technics 1210 is still the industry standard turntable. It just is...it was there from the start, and it's damn good at what it was designed to do.


EDIT - If you're asking what the appeal of the sound is, that's a matter of personal preference. However, the 808 seems to be a preference that a lot of people share.

Being able to set a long decay is not really something a kickdrum recording can do. You could always sidegate a sub tone or use a bass guitar.

I think I kind of agree that the 808 is not necessarily the best kick drum synth, but synthesised kicks do sound different to recordings obviously.

Love that they have a snappy knob on the snares that makes the snare so fuckin snappy. The cowbell sounds nothing like a cowbell but everyone knows it's an 808 sound. And the bass drum, who dosent love that sound? IDK the sounds are simple, powerful and unique.

I'm more of a 909 guy but the 808 clap has no competition in this game man

909 hats are superior but the 808 bell, kick and block are fantastic for sure

909 kicks are fat and crisp and the 808 claps are unmatched. Those claps with reverb tails are amazing. Just use it. It's been used for decades and it will continue to be used. It's still as popular as it was since it's inception to be perfectly honest.

forgive my ignorance, but is there the one true original/ best set of 808's & 909's?

Ive seen many different sets.
