if i stretch a sample out and can see the squares on the wav, is that a good indication of poor qualitie? i have bad ears so im a poor judge on qualitie. but recently have been noticing how loud things sound compared to other samples at the same db and alot of white noise due to compression on some samples i have being using in my beats. i sample vinyl alot, is there a bit rate recomended for this?

You're always gonna see squares at one point, that's just how digital audio works, discrete values.

Well, yes, that frequency at which the value changes is the sample frequency or sample rate.

Does it really matter if its not super crisp?

Maybe I'm talking nonsense but sometimes it's good to sample a little low quality? it adds to a nice 'sampled' effect, unless it's a bassline or something which is meant to be crisp.

Beh, you can always sample down if needed afterwards. I tend to record stuff in 96 kHz because i can't lowpass the input, so i wanna avoid aliasing.

Try explaining yourself better, how far zoomed in are you? What software are you using? Etc
What are you actually asking? We don't know how poor your samples are without hearing em really..
