Is it possible to use an external sound card with ubuntu

Hey guys basically what it says in the title, my uncle wants to know and I haven't a clue about any of that kinda thing so it would be great if anyone could me/him out! Also sorry if this is a total noob question!

Depends on the soundcard. There's no driver for the Focusrite Saffire 6 which is what I have. There is partial support for a lot of soundcards and full support for some as well

OP - answer to your question -yes. Never had any troubles with mine.
