NI massive sound design

Post by Flynox » Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:42 pm

Hi! I'm pretty new to production and trying out new sound design ideas every day! I've come up with quite some cool ideas. But still they seem to lack that "Professionalism". You can tell by listening to those sounds that they've been made by a beginner. I work with NI massive.

Now I got some questions:

I've been listening to a couple of bass synths that I find very cool. If there is anyone that can help me make those in Ni massive, that would be awesome.( Note: I know ef every synth posted that they are in fact made in NI massive.)

Note: If you want to explain something to me, can you explain in detail, because i'm pretty new to sound design in NI massive.µ

Thank you.

There is no real given real on how to achieve these sounds.
Have a fiddle inside massive. Use the performer instead of the LFO. Use Scream instead of Daft. Use Duck Organ wavetable instead of Gentle Speech.
Switch everything around, press every button and turn every knob.

Only then you will achieve a sound that is unique. Getting it sounding professional could be achieved with decent EQ and decent processing.

No one will tell you how to make these sounds step by step so I suggest you sit in front of massive (like I did) with one hand in your hair and the other hand on your mouse and fiddling all the buttons and parameters.

Good luck

i think i hear the modulation oscillator hitting the others with phase or ring mod or something
the swinging, stuttered wobbles are from crossfading between two different LFO's with one offset from the other
cool sound
