So trap seems to be springing up everywhere at the moment. What are your thoughts? Personally, I think some is pretty good but some is goddamn awful.
Anyways, thoughts?

A whole lot of threads about trap music seem to be springing up everywhere at the moment. What are your thoughts? Personally, I think one of them serves a purpose, but 3 every week is goddamn awful.
Anyways, thoughts?

I hope Trap becomes the next big thing so people will forget about "dubstep"
Who knows, maybe Circus and gang will start making Trap instead, how neat would that be

tnght are tight, also rl grime's trap on acid. i guess i like trap influenced stuff more than the actual trap. i've enjoyed tunes with trappy drums and tried to make that sound myself way before i've heard the term

Shoddily produced Southern Hip-Hop beats labeled under the umbrella "bass music", that lack any originality or soul. Harlem Shake is a fucking tune, but I don't think Baaer set out to write a 'trap' tune, it's all the cats coming after hopping on the bandwagon trying to write some piece of shit tune with rolling triplet hi-hats and 808 bass. I saw a DJ/Producer who I normally thoroughly enjoy, play an entire set of this faux music, and part of me died on the inside.
But all the bro-steppers are jumping ship and hopefully leaving dubstep to the heads!!

I think it's way over hyped, some isn't that bad, but as topmo3 said trap influenced seems better then actual trap imo.

Well, I am speechless about the way Dubstep and D&B producers suddenly started to get into it... It's just becoming mainstream. I love both Dubstep and Trap, but not mixed together. I am producer myself, but I never mix any of those. I give each genre space. I can borrow some percussion, effects, drums mainly used for one specific genre, but if an experiment goes wrong, I'm definetely not going to release that track. They belong to different places. And if I'm ever going to see a comment saying "omg i luv Trapstep", I'm gonna hit somebody's face.

Search for some Lex Luger instrumentals on YouTube. For example "BMF" or "Hard in da paint"...
It's a subgenre of Hip Hop, I think it's a dark descendant of Dirty South and Crunk. Usually Trap is about 808 kicks layered with a bass, punchy snares, 808 claps and offbeat hihats, orchestra, piano etc.
