Windows 7 Midi Translator for the MPD16

Post by Warwolt » Thu Aug 30, 2012 8:49 pm

Recently aquired a MPD16 (akai legacy product) for a very cheap price, so I'm all good at that front, but I just found out that there isn't any support for the drivers of it since it is legacy for windows 7. There is some work around to get it to work of USB, but its supposedly very very unstable, and since the mpd16 actually have a midi-out I just used a cable and ran it to my soundcard.

In Ableton, everythings working fine, it receives MIDI-information and I get sound out of my drum rack. The sensitivity problem was solved partly with the hot rod modification: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=991848

My problem is that I cannot get the MPD16 utility program to recognize my MPD16 (even though win 7 recognizes it as a USB-device, albeit with out any drivers) and I managed to get a connection once, but I can't really remember how. Thus, I can't change what the CC value of the different pads are, and right now they're NOT following the same notes as the ones in the drum rack.

What I want to do is get a midi translator that can filter the CC it gets in and spit out another CC value that matches the ones in ableton.

Obviously the problem here is that I'm running windows 7 at 64 bit, and my options are somewhat limited when looking at older threads and doing a bit of googling, so I was hoping I could get a pointer to some software that would allow me to do this.

Basically, I get MIDI in from a MPD16 into my Fast Track Pro, that sends this information to Ableton Live, inbetween the fast track and ableton I want to be able to change CC value x into CC value y
Burial isnt dubstep, fuck off.
