Hello,

I've started my first attempt at producing dubstep. I've got a loop I would like y'all to listen too here -

Currently, it's just a loop - drums, bass, and some FX - so keep that in mind when making comments. For example, feel free to suggest what directions to take with it, whether I should just scrap it, whatever

Don't feel worried about hurting my feelings or something like that - rip it to shreds if you don't like it.

My biggest influence so far in Dubstep has been Distance, Boxcutter, and especially Luke Envoy. However, I'm fairly new to dubstep so please feel free to suggest some essential listening.

Listen on headphones or speakers with good bass response - I know, probably a redundant request considering the forum, but I haven't really had a chance to mix it properly.

Peace,

9T

Safe for a first attempt. You should probably sort out the eq on the fx cos they're crowding your bassline a fair amount. and your drums could do with some beefing up, compression eq, maybe a hint more reverb. Quite like the break and bass though, and your choice of drums is quite interesting if a little limited. If you're looking to sound anything like boxcutter then you should probably add more basses and synths instead of just layering effects. boxcutter tends to break his melody up and share it between lots of different synths and sounds and his basslines are usually matched quite heavily to the drum beat, for more of a groove feeling. Luke envoy is sick but i don't know enough of his stuff to comment that easily. Safe start tho man, i'd like to hear the finished version. :D

Thanks for the feedback bro! Not looking to sound like anybody in particular, but those artists got me into dubstep, production wise.

I guess from the lack of feedback, the loop is not so hot, so I'll finsish it off and repost in the dubs section.

Peace

Bassline sounds cool. Where are the drums?
