New guy here, needs help!

Post by jimdt7 » Sat Sep 15, 2012 8:16 pm

Hello guys, :)
I am interested in dubstep and electro music and i would like to start making some beats.
What programs/equipment should i buy? I was thinking about the Launhpad or the Maschine Mikro.
Any help would be apreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Or you could just start with a DAW and a synth and some effects before you drop money on hardware, programs are expensive enough.

Don't buy any hardware...besides a midi keyboard to hook up to your computer...you don't use the Launchpad/Maschine Micro to produce..it just helps out/something to FEEL physically when you can just use your damn mouse....you probably seen Madeon use the Launchpad and thought it's for producing.. it isn't.

First you need a DAW. Ableton Live 8, Cubase 5, FL Studio 10, Logic Pro etc. there's a shit ton of DAWs(Digital Audio Workstations) but the ones I listed are the best(Sorry other DAW users)

DAW = Structuring the song/laying it out on this "map"/arranging the BPM etc.

Second you need to buy Synthesizers such as Native Instruments MASSIVE/Tone2 Gladiator/Sylenth1 etc. to create legit sounds for the "sound design" part to use IN the DAW. This creates the wobbles/bass/pianos/leads etc.

A good computer really helps(8-16gb ram, good graphics card like a 256 bit 1GB GDDR5, Quad-core or more)
A mouse
A brain
ADHD
& Time

Open tabs of pr0nz for immediate breaks.

And you are well on your way on making dope beats bruh.

studio one, pro tools, bitwigs, it's all the same ting, you can even do your shit in soundforge if you want, you just need vst support.

having something with velocity sensitive pads is great for creating more natural sounding patterns. plus maschine's sequencing and midi functionality is great. if you want one, get it after a buying a decent computer, vsts, soundcard, a midi key controller and monitors.

I meant for right now...he shouldn't be wasting money on that when it's hella expensive when he doesn't even have a DAW/Synthesizers to start with.

The only hardware I have is a Yamaha midi keyboard from a friend and a Audio Technica Mic + M-AUDIO preamp I bought a few weeks ago and still haven't really used...

My music is still coming out good without any hardware. :corncry:
