I can't capture the right emotion

So, whenever I try to make music like this:

I end up making music like this: (Don't mind the fact that the lead is off beat, I just recorded myself freestylin and cba to adjust the midi notes).
Soundcloud
I think it sounds like something Goatye would sing to lol.
I don't know, I love exciting and aggressive music, but whenever I set out to make it I end up with something like this. I think it sounds alright, but its not really something I would listen to. I basically have like 20 songs like this one, but all with different chord progressions. Anyone else have any problems like this?

You sir, Have a lot of potential... you write good melodies..reminds me of myself when I used FL Studio and started off lol.
Keep at it dude.
Have a deep electro bass going..that's whats missing from this song. And stop a melody for a second and add a glitch/bass sounding thing during some parts..change it up/ADHD style and you'll be on your way.
If you can send that high-pluck synth patch in a private message that would be dope! Sounds good man.

You need that bass, I agree. and that's the emotion you're missing man... Work on progressions and drops, think about what you'd want in a tune as your making it at times like "Oh a drop would be cool ehre!" or a build up here! etc.
It sounds really good though

that remix is really busy, you have a merciless hi hat line going on, vocals and a low mid range thing setting up a nice rhythm, lots of repetitions, lots of elements at the same time, lots of processing and layering to the sounds, low bpm and it's 4x4 instead of a 2step ting. put this all together and you have an energetic sound, do the inverse and you have a sad and deep song.

Maybe stop trying to make someone else's music? Just make your own stuff, that's most likely why it doesn't come out right. Imitation is a skill in itself that takes a lot of work. Like that guy who recreated The Prodigy's tunes from scratch. They sounded great, but his own original music was awful. Too much time spent learning to imitate others.

Not really trying to copy HIM, just trying to make my melodic songs more exciting and pondering the fact that I never end up capturing any excitement or tension but always end up making softer songs.
And daeMTHAFKNkim its

it's a fm synthesizer, but he's just using a square wave, wide stereo field, reverb, delay and a pluck like envelope.

Even though it has far less modulation capabilities than most industry standard synths, this one is my favorite to use, even if its just for subtractive stuff. I really love the additional voicing on it and the filter.

Switch drum kit, give it more focus. This current is too thin and not bassy enough. The high area of the drums is fine, so if you HP filtered it, remove it

consider adding high hats, it does good for the groove and connects the BD to the snare and making it feel like a drum kit.
Bass line as all said, side-chained bass will do miracles.
Distort some element, maybe the stabs can have some multibend distortion (distort the high area).
Maybe the lead can have a small shaping or distortion.
The melodies are very nice.

I know that feel..
but what someone else said, you're off to a great start and from what I can tell, you got a great grasp on a catchy melody going on for you.
Just keep going and keep working at it. fyi if you want this part harder, than change the kit to something punchier! cheers

Its not native in FL, its just made by image line as well. When I was messing around with the FL demo I ended up falling in love with the synth bought it to use in ableton. It may not be as "powerful" as some other synths (in terms of modulation at least) but I love it and work well with it.
