PROOF IN THE SOUND
Proof in the Sound is the product of a longed for collaboration between electronic artists Soundproof, aka Jamie Moynihan, and Michael Biniaz and Anti-Social member G Double. As if such a match wasn't enough, Bass specialist’s R1 Ryder’s supplied their own signature sounds on the remix. This is a classic that will surely prove to be a most fascinating alliance for this year. Proof in the sound is a magnificent cut of restrained synth and atmosphere combined with hard grooving beats to make Soundproof Recordings 8th release the most forward thinking yet.
“We used the Access Virus C to make most of the sounds in this track, we like to use hardware whenever possible as it’s a much richer sound.” says Jamie, one half of the production duo. And it definitely shows as the track starts off with a creamy filtering synth and crisp hi hats. Their own identity and sound is prevalent in the beats that roll along in preparation for G Doubles bespoke lyrics, which are executed in notable style. The kick drum is pounding with a weighty sub-bass that pushes the track along. The groove keeps you going and slices of synth stabs and vocal edits fill out the track until live-recorded bongos enter the mix. This is another beautifully realised single from Soundproof, a production duo that you definitely need to keep an eye on.
When R1 Ryder’s heard ‘Proof in the Sound’ they wanted to remix it. Their mix is a great addition to Soundproofs original, as it’s got the R1 Ryder’s sound stamped firmly on it! Using the vocals differently and turning their production skills to make the track a more oldskool affair. The remix starts with oldskool drum loops and stabs that are instantly recognised by your ears, this switches in to a garage and bass influenced drop. Filled with danceable edits and breakdowns this remix makes sure you’re going to want to play both versions of ‘Proof in the Sound’ over and over again.
