Maschine 1.8 is out today. Includes time stretching, transient master and some other cool features.
You also get some synth I've never heard of. Think is called massive? Could be cool.

Been designing new sounds with Massive all week-- can't believed I passed it over because I assumed it was just for making nasty bass sounds. It's so deep, versatile, and fun. Best free software update ever!

You can go ahead and fuck your imperialistic appropriation of a real and true Mexican word, galinha.
My third key for massive...
Maschine has been sulking on the floor in the corner of my studio. 1.8 sounds juicy. Will update. Hopefully report back.

50 minutes into updating Maschine. Another NI classic installer escapade. How these fucks have reached this position in the market while being mostly unable to figure out how to install their software is beyond me. IT IS BEYOND ME!

Yeah, pc, don't think it is a pc issue. First, have to update the NI updater... (next year may have to update the updater that updates the updater). Then NI's updater cannot for the life of itself recall my password (neither can I). Then the NI installer cannot change the install paths... awesome!
BUT, I'm finally here, and holy fuck there are jelly beans all over my screen. All that toxic green is a little edgy on the eyes, can you change these colors? Some of the deep purples are fairly unreadable on the dark grey backgrounds.
OPRS: Depends really. If you make beat based music and have any experience working with hardware boxes, I think it is incredible. If you just want a production environment, I don't think it is the best. I don't think it is really for high quality production. Which for me, is AOKAY (most of the time). Also note, that I 99.9% use it standalone.
I've also had Maschine unplugged for a good long while. BUT, I'm going to work a bit with just the sp-404sx (which under any circumstances is 1000% recommended by me), Maschine, and the Minibrute. Usually with the 404, I make stuff and record that into FLstudio and process further. But I'd like to work on strictly working in a pad based beat making environment, and sampling that into another pad based beat making environment for further processing (ideally I'd like to do all that in the 404, but feel it is either too limited in that regard, or I just don't have the chops for it). Also, Maschine can function nicely as a bridge between hardware and software production.

Just got a cheap (I think) Maschine Mikro today. Any idea how I get my free Massive? I was told it was included.

i recommend it to anyone making beats
It's basically a glorified version of Kontakt with a dedicated controller and sequencer, some different sound banks and some different effects
there are features that Kontakt has that are missing from maschine but it's nearly all there
If you are slick with the Kontakt interface, and handy with mapping an MPD or similar pad-controller, there is no point to Maschine
but if you are seeking a new workflow, a quick and user friendly pad-control softsampler it's kind of an inspiring and good sampler
I hate it's reverbs and distortion
really my only qualm with it. Especially since i feel liek they could have included some of the better FX from Kontakt (convolution, cabinet)

I got one because I manually punch my drums in unquantized and I sample and chop up vinyl. I love how I can get a beat going without looking at my computer screen. If you aren't in to drumming, sampling, or programming MPC style than I wouldn't recommend it.
