phpBB has much more security concerns. DoA are running vbulletin for example and they're doing just right I think. And from my previous experience, I'd go with vbulletin. It's just .. neat

And afaik the migration is painless

vbulletin is fancy and lots of fancy pants plugs ins and mods..etc.

phpbb is not as secure, but, there's half the browser glitches, and phpbb works very very well on all the new cellphone/psp/pda/pocket pc phones, which will be the dominant browsing standard in teh next year or so anyway.

on top of that phpbb is free, and is also much easier for google search engine spiders to read. bottom line , simplicity wins everytime.

mr. dubway,
according to our talk last saturday, i must correct myself. phpBB v3 is of course STILL a release candidate (RC7). you might have figured it out by yourself meanwhile. the peeps over at phpBB still do not recommend upgrading, although database transfer might work out now... therefore, like u said, patience - it's the key.

cheerz bro

p.s.: hope u + your sweetest r doing well ;)

I found that both vBulletin and Invision Powerboard are actually both search engine and bandwith friendly and offer lo-fi versions which google indexes rather than crawling the ones with the images.

simplicity wins everytime. people access this forum without glitches so far, and as far as i'm concerned thats the most important consideration. there's far too many people overly consumed with having the most flash bang wham websites and miss the point that forum's are essentially about community. interaction. discussions. debate. information.
