Massive Sub lower then louder??

I don't get it, I have the volume envelope on my Sub bass in Massive set right, and when I listen to the solo sub bass track in my headphones the volume is one level - but when I play the track the sub bass sounds lower in some parts of the bass line and then louder in others. I don't understand how this happens, can someone please offer some input?

I'd hammer a guess that the frequencies of your bassline and sub bass are overlapping, throw a LP filter on your bass

Lp filter on sub or mid bass?....I already have a LP4 filter on my subs and a LP2 on my mid basses.

Mid range, usually set to around like 100hz (really just to where you can hear both cleanly) ... use an external filter so you can actually see what frequencies you're cutting

I think he meant a highpass filter on your mid bass.

How would the high pass help?...I did notice that the cutoff knob on both LP filters are at the same level. Maybe bring down the cutoff of the sub down more?

High pass removes low freq', hence HP on the mid basses would remove content from the area you want your sub to be sitting

Oh alright, so wherever my sub is sitting around that's where I should remove the frequency of my mid bass?

And one more thing, I'm using an Equalizer on the Mid Basses (in Reason) so I should bring the Lo Shelf frequency down to where the sub is sitting and turn the gain down so it dips out the content? Because the high shelf knob only deals with the higher frequencies...It's going by Khz so it's a little confusing....I'm pretty sure I'm doin it right though.
Ah fuck, Reason? okay, High pass and high shelf are two different things, high shelf literally just deals with the high band of freq... To make a high pass in reason I do this, Image
and just play with the freq' on b to get it where you want

Oh I see. I used Reason's M Class Equalizer Lo Shelf and Lo Cut. That works too right?

Yeah, same thing, I just prefer PEQ2, I find it easier for something like that, personal preference

Cool mate I appreciate the help, learned something....Btw do you bring down the gain reduction all the way on the specific frequency? (last inquiry) :4:

Welcome mate.
Yeah, but you can just adjust it up ever so slightly and it changes the slope on it
