Slime welcomes to the label UK producer Soaka. Carving a name out for himself in the more melodic end of bass music, his style distills myriad genres into one intoxicating brew. For his debut release on the label, he serves up two spectral garage tracks perfect for these long autumn nights.
'Down Boy' rolls in on an echo of light chords and static before the laconic beat takes up the pace. Sweet female vocals drift in and out of the mix with a gossamer touch, giving the track a subtle warmth.
'Love You' opens on ethereal vocals and melancholy chords with a skeletal rhythm underpinning proceedings with a quiet authority. Minimal and atmospheric, the track pulls you into a smoked-out haze and refuses to let go.
Frequent Flyers return after the success of their own EP on Slime to provide a more upbeat re-structure of 'Love You', with 808 rimshots and modulated bass wrapped up in the moody attitude of the original.
