Doctor P, Flux Pavilion inspired track, feedback!

Post by Sure_Fire » Thu Oct 11, 2012 3:28 pm

Hey guys,

Just looking for feedback regarding my latest mixdown of Pryoclastic. It's getting better, but still needs major work. I'm aware of most of the problems with the mix, I'd just like some people to point out stuff I might not realise myself. As per usual, any feedback is much appreciated!

Yeah. It's pretty good but I think you already understand that most of your problems are in your mix. What you could do to fix this is listen to another track thats already been mastered and try to copy the volumes of their snare and their bass and even their bassline. The biggest problem I saw was definitely your snare though. It needs to break through the rest of the mix. Try to use a equalizer to boost it at 200mhz and if that still doesn't work, you'll want to take down the 200mhz on your other plugins.

Cool melody. I would suggest beefing up the kick and EQ'ing a whole lot more. Some of the frequencies are fighting each other. Try to let the track breathe a bit leading into the drop, that way there's more impact. Not sure how I feel about the hat/tambo triplet sound either.

Good job and keep working on it! I always like the Circus-type melodies.

Yeah I have been having trouble with the clashing during the verse/build up. So much going on there I guess. As for the snare, I though it was actually cutting through nicely. Definately right about the kick though.
