Man, anyone else heard Merzbuddha? You stnuc need to hear this.

His 'dub' album apparently, done as only Merzbow can! Lots of long, deep pulsing bass tones, very tranced out vibe. About as soft and warm as pure digital noise can be.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Totally psychedelic and hugely deep.

Anyone into noise check out:

Prurient- from America, harsh as fuck live, best record is Black Vase, nearly got album of the year in The Wire I think but Burial beat it.

Hijokaidan- Fucking amazing, they do a great fucked up cover of Silver Machine on Tapes. robably the best band Ive ever seen, totally fucked my hearing. I once seen Sun City Girls followed by Hijokaidan followed by Cassette Boy, followed by Like a Tim, followed by Ceephax Acid Crew. Probably one the best times of my life.

In the same dub+noise genre, Merzbow also released "Merzdub" with Jamie Saft, it's more varied but a lot less bassheavy and hypnotic than "Merzbuddha"

Its all about Kazumoto Endo....definitely the most talented noise artist Ive heard by some distance.

i like the idea, but i don't think anyone really rocks out to noise.

it's just so...eh.

i have a few noise albums, but it's not something i see anyone seriously pursuing.

but this merzbuddha sounds interesting, looking now.

I saw Wolf Eyes in Cardiff in April and the line at the front was going nuts, very surprised to see people raving to Noise, but it does happen.

do you think people are really feeling the music, or if they're actually just so happy to be anti-conformist?

i think it's a lot of just fighting the norm for a fight's sake, not so much for artistic expression.

People actually enjoy noise. I am one of such people. I also enjoy "Umbrella" by Rihanna so I don't think it's an anti-conformist thing.

Aleatoric, atonal, dissonant, "noisey" etc. music has been being made and enjoyed for at least half a century and I don't think John Cage, Merzbow, Kaoru Abe, LaMonte Young, Lou Reed, Hanatarash, Albert Ayler et al and their fans are all just part of some worldwide intergenerational poseurs club.

Out of interest and not being sarcastic, how do you assess talent with this genre of music. I've checked some out and I just don't get it at all.

I'm sure that's the whole point and noise fans are sick of explaining this but it makes me want to eat rusty razorblades and go out and headbut some disabled kids.

i never called anyone a poseur. i listen to noise occasionally and enjoy drone and ambient.
