LEAVING MASCHINE FOR ABLETON LIVE 8 (HELP)
I BEEN MAKING MUSIC INSIDE OF MASCHINE FOR ABOUT 2YRS AND IT WAS
MY FIRST PIECE OF SOFTWARE & HARDWARE. I STARTED OUT MAKING
STRAIGHT HIP-HOP BEATS FOR FRIENDS, BUT NOW I'M REALLY
INTO EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC, FUTURE GARAGE & POST-DUBSTEP FROM
PEOPLE LIKE FLYING LOTUS, SHLOHMO, JAMES BLAKE, MOUNT KIMBIE,
SBTRKT & XXYYXX. BUT I BEEN FEELING REAL UNISPIRED AND LIMITED EVERYTIME I LOAD UP
MASCHINE. I LOVE THE CONTROL I HAVE OVER THE PROGRAM WHEN I
USE THE CONTROLLER AND THE ONLY THING I COULD SAY I WOULD MISS
ABOUT MASCHINE WAS HOW QUICKLY I COULD AUDITION DIFFERENT DRUMS
FROM MY PERSONAL DRUM LIBARY WHILE BUILDING A BEAT kfhkh . I'M NOT
BASHING MASCHINE AT ALL. IT'S A GREAT TOOL & IT HELP ME LEARN THE
BASICS OF MUSIC PRODUCTION & ARRAGEMENT. I JUST FEEL LIKE ABLETON
LIVE 8 HAS MORE TO OFFER & WILL ALLOW ME TO GET MORE IN DEPTH &
CREATIVE WITH OUT ANY LIMITATIONS. SO I'M JUST WONDERING IF ANY
BODY HAS ANY TIPS OR WITH THIS TRANSITION I'M IN. I GUESSING THE
BEST THING FOR ME TO DO WOULD BE TO FORGET ABOUT EVERYTHING
REGARDING THE MASCHINE AND IT'S PROGRAMING AND JUST START FRESH
MENTALLY. BTW, I KNOW MASCHINE IS ABLE TO RUN AS A VST IN SIDE ABLETON, BUT I'M
NOT INERESTED IN ALL THE REROUTING DRUMS/PADS AND ISSUES. I JUST
RATHER WORK INSIDE ABLETON AND I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO USING
THE DRUM RACKS. I KNOW YOUTUBE IS A GOOD PLACE TO START & I WILL
CHECK'EM OUT, IT'S JUST ALOT OF VIDEOS TO FILTER THROUGH ...SO IF ANY
ONE HAS ANY GOOD TIPS FOR GETING OVER THE LEARNING CURVE OF
ABLETON LIVE COMING FROM MASCHINE THEY WOULD BE GREATLY
APPRECIATED.
THANKS AGAIN GUYS....

I refuse to read this stupidly formatted shit. You don't have to abandoned Maschine...you can load it into Ableton as VST yes?

MASCHINE LINKS UP WITH ABELTON LIVE 8 JUST GREAT. MY FRIEND SHOWED ME AND IT LOOKED REALLY COOL. IF I HAD MASCHINE I WOULD TOTALLY ROCK THEM BOTH TOGETHER fwiw. BUT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO USE THEM BOTH TOGETHER, ITS FINE BY ME.

PERSONALLY I CANT THINK OF MANY THINGS THAT I CANT DO IN MASCHINE THAT I CAN DO IN OTHER SOFTWARE. MASCHINE IS FUCKING DOPE, YOU SHOULD JUST NOT BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME WITH LIVE 8 AND STICK WITH MASCHINE. LIVE 8 IS ALSO DOPE BUT UNLESS THERE'S SOMETHING REALLY KEY ABOUT LIVE 8 THAT MASCHINE IS COMPLETELY UNABLE TO DO YOU'RE JUST WASTING YOUR TIME. THERE ARE MORE THAN A FEW VERY TALENTED ARTISTS DOING ALMOST EVERYTHING ON THEIR MASCHINES.

Re: LEAVING MASCHINE FOR ABLETON LIVE 8 (HELP)
Yo thanks for the replies guys (sorry for the all caps) I'm new here..lol. I never planed on totally ditching maschine, I love the controller. I just think I'm ready to move on from the maschine "program." I just want to learn how to work inside a real DAW & use the maschine controller inside of it as a simple midi controller...that's all. I been checking out soniclab youtube videos 2day and I'm try to put what I learn into action 2nite in Ableton. I know you can use maschine as a vst in ableton & seems like a lot of you perfer that route so I'll check that option out too.
btw...I also found this template called MegeMaschine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU_4i8FFkjo

Re: LEAVING MASCHINE FOR ABLETON LIVE 8 (HELP)
Maschine is a "real DAW" and is similar to Ableton in many ways.

Re: LEAVING MASCHINE FOR ABLETON LIVE 8 (HELP)
Maschine and Live seem to be a very powerful combo. I would explore that route more. From your op I thought that you were just going to totally ditch the Maschine in favor of Live.
Re: LEAVING MASCHINE FOR ABLETON LIVE 8 (HELP)
ya i guess u should try n learn Ableton for what you can get out of it, then launch maschine as a vst
it will work the same way but you can use its multi outputs to track out every pad or group to their own track
or maybe make a sub-mix in maschine and use the main 1&2 output

Re: LEAVING MASCHINE FOR ABLETON LIVE 8 (HELP)
@mks Nah...I love maschine. It's what I started with & it's the only tool I had so now I have ableton & I just want to learn how to use live so I can grasp some understanding of working in side of a daw and t's capabilities so I can feed my inspirations & creativity. I can see how the tittle could give the impression that I'm leaving maschine totally & for good...I just wanted to see if you guys had any advice from personal experience for someone who is trying to learn ableton's program coming from purely a maschine background.
Re: LEAVING MASCHINE FOR ABLETON LIVE 8 (HELP)
Is it actually possible to compose an entire piece of music in Maschine?
