What with college being back in session and such, I'm getting requests by younger folks to "go harder." I can only assume this means more hyped up bass. Stuff like Breach, Foamo, some dirtybird stuff seems to sate the crowd, but I'm on the lookout for new stuff. The thought of playing some tinny saw-wave 110bpm mid range bass shit (knife party, skrillex, etc.) makes me break out in a cold sweat. Anyone got any artist or label suggestions?
no hard synths, but hard hitting kicks&basslines in those 1's
is that what youre on about sort of?

Thanks rayman, both sides of that Manare release are huge, as well as some of the other clekclekboom stuff. The boddika track is heavy, too.
kicks & basslines are where it's at.

Check out the stuff on Hot N Heavy Recordings, Four 40 Records, Sounds of Sumo, 877 Records. Bit harder but not losing the integrity.

imo i'd rather not dj somewhere as opposed to pandering to the "go harder" attitude of inebriated teens.
i don't get many gigs anymore....

i know that feel.
better to play what you like as opposed to pandering to what others want.

play your techno and house records at +8 and make sure they aren't tech house and it'll sound great

Damnit someone already suggested stuff on Power House
But yeah, that.
Avalanche murders it. Wish I got gigs where I could play heavier techno stuff.

I'm gonna suggest something a little different, sometimes they think they want harder but they really just want something to grasp on to. Three tracks that have worked for me without fail and over the past year or two are XXXY - Ordinary Things, KiNK - Existence, and Deadboy - Wish U Were Here. Yes, they are obvious to all of us and depending on the gig I wouldn't really play these any more but living in a city dominated by students there are many times I have to compromise what I play a bit. These are tunes I never feel bad about playing and they ALWAYS fill the floor.

no mayte they want it darker, they dont wanna slow dagger the gyaldem pon the dancefloor, they want to be pounding them to a hard, strict 4x4 beat
