The kick/snare are a bit on the weak side and getting lost behind that midrange.

What can I do to make them stand out more? Would it be better to eq/turn them up? Or should I eq/turn the other sounds down?

It's all about EQing out the freq that compete bro.. Gotta make space and room for all the freqs to sit right in the mix.. Idk what you EQ your snares off at, but I cut mine off @ 200Hz with a highpass.. Tripled layered snares :3

Hadn't considered cutting it. I just boost it at 200Hz. Thanks for the tips!

So I went through and EQd the basslines and drums to give my drums a little more life and now one of my bassline sounds comes out sounding flat. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you're trying to make room for your drums, I find that EQ'ing basslines for this isn't always the best route because it will usually change the sound and feel of your bass. If you are going to EQ it, I suggest you use the EQ in the synth used to create the bass, rather than an external one.

Since your goal is to simply to not allow your bass to drown out your drums, try some sidechain compression. Make the the bass duck when your kick or w\e hits, so to accentuate that instrument. Don't go crazy with the sidechaining, though... Let be subtle enough where it isn't noticeable and let's your drums breath a bit.... Unless you're going for a progressive house feel and want that pumping effect. Also, try some stereo expanding and shaping on the drums if you know what that is.

Try using a enveloper tool. Makes the attack of the snare really punch, but still, it does help to do some corrective EQ on the snare and mid-range. If you are having trouble finding the EQ's you need to cut out, try downloading a visual EQ or Spectrum Analyser to see what frequencys your Snare and Midrange are hitting.
