Adam A7X or F7

Post by Phlou » Thu Oct 25, 2012 11:10 pm

What do you guys recon, should I buy the A7X's in three weeks time or should I wait for the F7's to be released in January? The F7's should be quite similar to the A7X's, about 30% less priced and a little less durable if worked hard on. I have come to a conclusion ( based on a huge number of reviews) that the Adam's should be the best in my price region ( 2 monitors for 1000€). Also, it might be quite risky to buy some new monitors without any knowledge of what I'm in for. But at the same time, Adam is a very reliable company. Or do you have any opinions on what could be even better in this price range?

I bought a pair of Adam A5x's 3 months ago and they are the best monitors i've owned in my 15 years of producing. And i don't say that lightly because i am extremely picky about monitors. The woofer is smaller than the A7X'S at 5.5" and they go from 50hz upwards but i can handle that as i have a small room and big monitors would cause more problems. They reproduce more than enough low end, unbelievable power really for their size. The F7's go a bit lower at 44hz and have a 7" woofer. The A7x's have the same size woofer and go even lower at 42hz. Which ever model you get all i can say is that they are great monitors, the sonic clarity is insane and my mixdowns have improved no end since using them, i will be using them for years. I'd probably go for the F7's if i were you, cheaper and not a lot of diff (bar a few hz in the low end) than the A7xs.

i use dynaudio bm6a, they are in your price range, but i wish i had a sub with them. i have not had much experience with any other monitors so couldn't tell you about the Adam's. I hear they have very nice highs tho
